Colton says Mama!

My sweet little boy decided to say mama today.....three times! It seriously made my heart melt. Luckily I wasn't the only one who heard it....I have three witnesses:) I can't wait until he actually associates the word Mama with me:) Love him!

Colton's 7 Month Update

Colton is 7 Months old today!!!

What's New:

Colton weighs around 21 pounds! He is still in size 4 diapers and is wearing 9 month and 12 month clothing....he is a growing boy for sure! Colton is 29" so he has outgrown his infant car seat and we have been using a convertible car seat for him. I still use the infant seat on the stroller if we are out because it seems he is most comfortable in that or his umbrella stroller.

Colton has started sleeping GREAT over the past week.....he even slept for 10 hours straight one night! Now he has been going to bed a little before 7 pm and will wake up for his binky around 2 am and then go back top sleep until 6 am...a change from the up every hour we were dealing with. I totally cut out his middle of the night bottle and he does not seem to care one bit. He wakes up super happy every morning!

Colton has been eating around 2-3 containers of baby food and two bowls of rice cereal every day. He is eating stage 2 organic baby food and we have tried a wide variety and he has been great with all of it. He drinks approximately 25 oz of formula as well....(5) 5 oz bottles.

Here is what his current schedule looks like:

6 am ~ Good Morning ~ 5 oz bottle
7/7:30 am ~ Breakfast (bowl of rice cereal and 1/2-1 container fruit baby food)
9/9:30 am ~ Nap
10 am ~ 5 oz bottle
11:30/12 ~ Lunchtime (1 container fruit & veggie blend baby food)
1/1:30 pm ~ 5 oz bottle
1:30/2 pm ~ Nap
4 pm ~ 5 oz bottle
4:30/5 pm ~ Dinner (bowl of rice cereal and 1/2-1 container of veggie blend baby food)
6 pm ~ Bath time!!
6:30/7 pm ~ 5 oz bottle
7 pm ~ Bedtime...Sweet Dreams!
Wakes up for his binky around 1 or 2 am, otherwise out like a light!

This schedule changes slightly from day to day but this is what our day looks like right now. Hoping this great sleeping pattern continues!

Colton has been really interested in anything and everything! He wants to know what is making any noise he hears and is grabbing at whatever is near him. Yesterday, before dinner, he was getting fussy and crying and he said the words Ba Ba Ba Ba for the first time!! I gave him a bottle and he was happy again! He said it again today....it seems like he mutters it when he's getting fussy. I love hearing him talk and can't wait until he starts to say more. Erick heard him say Ba Ba Ba today too:) Colton is also sitting up great and has started sitting up really tall this past week. I still have to be careful because he will occasionally throw himself backwards.....if I walk away I put the boppy pillow around him. He loves sitting and playing with his toys. Colton still isn't rolling over but we work on it every day and if I help a little he quickly finishes the roll and flips over....his size definitely makes it more difficult for him. He still loves his jumperoo too.

This little man has been so much fun lately. He has also been SUPER happy which makes me super happy:) He seems to be getting so big so quick and he is learning something new every day!

Here are some more 7 month photos:

Until next time....

Family pictures!!!!

We went and had family pictures done a little over a week ago to surprise our moms for Mother's Day! Colton did great for the first few (nevermind the drool on his face in each photo) but got tired of the camera real quick. Luckily, we managed to get some great family pictures and our moms loved them too!

And here they are.....

 The End:)

Colton's 6 Month Checkup ~ May 9, 2013

Colton had his 6 month checkup last Thursday, May 9th....he still a chubby, healthy, growing boy! It's hard to believe he will be 7 months old in less than 2 weeks!!  He weighs a whopping 20 lbs 13.5 oz and is 29 inches long. His head measures 17.64" inches around.

Colton has gained 13 lbs 13.5 oz and has grown 9 inches since he was born! He is in the 90.04 percentile for his weight, 100 percentile for his height and 80.92 percentile for his head circumference. His doctor still says he's an all around big boy:)

Colton also got shots at this appointment and I am still traumatized:( He got two shots in each leg. I seriously can't handle watching his scream and holding his hands while he gets them...my poor boy:( Luckily my mom went for support again:)

What's going on lately.......
Let me just say that Colton was not a very easy baby from early on but what a difference in the last couple weeks!! He is such a HAPPY baby these days. I can't even count the number of times he makes us laugh each day. He is grabbing everything in sight, sitting up and talking up a storm! He LOVES being outside and is a very curious boy. He still isn't sleeping totally thru the night but I have cut out his middle of the night feeding, after talking to the doctor, and he just wakes up for his binky. He goes to bed around 8 pm and is napping a couple times throughout the day. He gets laid down awake and falls asleep on his own. He eats like crazy and is enjoying all the baby food that comes his way:) Although I don't want to think about him getting older, each day gets better and better and more fun than the last:)

Colton's 6 Month Update!

Colton is 6 Months Old Today!!!

My little man is 1/2 a year old today.....where has the time gone??

What's New:

Colton weighs over 20 pounds and has definitely grown in length since last month....we will know his weight and length when we go for his checkup in a couple weeks!  He is in size 4 diapers and is wearing size 6-9 month and 9 month clothing.  He has become so interactive over the last couple weeks and is always making us smile. Colton has really started reaching for things and tries to grab everything in sight. He has also become really interested in our dog, Buddy. If Buddy walks past him, Colton will put his hand out and try to pet him. He will even grab his fur...which Buddy isn't too sure about. Colton still loves his jumperoo and Little Einsteins...he lights up when it comes on tv. He has started sitting up on his own for small periods of time too! He just started shaking his head back and forth (like he's saying NO) in the past week.

Colton has had some rough days and nights in the past couple weeks , which I am chalking up to teething. He had a couple nights where he was up every hour but the past few days have gotten better....thank goodness!! He goes to bed around 8/8:30 pm and still usually gets a bottle in the middle of the night, which I am trying to skip. He has been getting up for the day around 6:30. Lately, he has been taking two decent naps during the day and quick catnap in the evening...although he will occasionally skip it. Colton still gets swaddled at night...we tried a few nights without and we quickly went back to it! He doesn't roll over just yet but usually gets his arms free anyway but for some reason just sleeps better with his swaddle. I may try a sleep sack soon! He also still loves his binky....only wishing I could get it to stay in his mouth ALL NIGHT! NO SUCH LUCK!

Colton hasn't really increased his formula intake at one time....he still only drinks about 4-5 oz every 3 to 4 hours. We have tried moving to the level 3 nipple for 6 months + and it was a no go for now. He has been LOVING solid foods and has been eating only organic rice cereal and baby food so far. We like Gerber Organic, Ella's Kitchen, Earth's Best and Happy Baby. I try every single thing I give him and have to stop myself from eating some of them....they are good!! He has been fine with all of the food so far (no allergies).....woo-hoo!! Although, baby oatmeal was a no go for now because he gets really loose stools...no fun for the one who is changing him! We will try to introduce it again in the future.

~Food Fun~

Colton has had the following foods so far:

Pears
Apples
Prunes
Bananas
Peaches
Blueberries
Mangoes
Strawberries
Sweet Potatoes
Green Beans
Carrots
Peas
Spinach
Butternut Squash
Corn

He loves all of these but is a little undecided on the green beans:)

They have some pretty good recipes too...

Banana Mango
Apples, Blueberries & Spinach
Apple Sweet Potato
Pears, Peaches & Strawberries
and so on...

Like I said I have to stop myself from eating them:)

It seems like Colton is learning something new every day and I just love watching what he does. It just keeps getting more and more fun! We look forward to him sitting up better and eventually crawling! Each day gets better and better:)

Some more fun pictures from his first day being 6 months old!

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter!!

Another excuse for yet another photo session of our sweet little boy:)

We took advantage of the nice weather and used his toy basket for a lot of really cute photos....

And Colton's Easter basket...or should I say bucket. A beach bucket filled with sand castles, shovels and more beach accessories....along with some of his favorite baby food, some books and a stuffed frog!

I even made some bunny pancakes! Colton will have to wait until next year for these but I definitely enjoyed eating them!!

A few more adorable pictures.....

Happy Easter from our little bunny:)

Colton's 5 Month Update

Colton is 5 Months Old Today!!

What's New:
Colton is still a chubby little man! He weighs over 19 pounds and is around 26.5 inches long!  He is still in size 3 diapers and is wearing size 3-6 month, 6 month clothing and some 9 month clothing...he has starting outgrowing some of the 3-6 month and 6 months sizes already. He laughs a lot, screams funny sounds and is very ticklish on his neck, thighs, belly and feet! He loves chewing on his hands still and puts everything in his mouth. He also  loves watching Little Einsteins in his jumperoo. He has starting getting funny around people he doesn't see a lot and even cries sometimes when they try to hold him or get too close.

Colton is sleeping good at night for the most part...we have some nights he wakes up more than others. Currently, he has been going to bed anywhere from 6:30 to 7:30 pm and waking up around 1:30/2 am for a bottle and then goes back to sleep for a few more hours. He usually gets up around 5:30 or 6 for the day. His naps are still short most of the time but occasionally he will get in an hour or two at one time...but not often! He still gets swaddled, although most of the time he takes his arms out of it...we will be trying out sleep sacks very soon! I still lay him down awake...swaddled with his binky..and he falls asleep on his own...with the help of the music from his mobile. I still leave a fan on in his room for noise.

Colton is still drinking 5oz bottles and usually has around 6 bottles a day. He sometimes gets a 6 oz bottle at night (with rice cereal mixed in) but for the most part he only eats 5 oz at a time.
~Food Fun~
Colton has been loving solid foods! The doctor gave us the okay at his last checkup to start cereal (which I already did at 4 months) and then to start trying out some solids. I did give him apples a couple days before his appointment because I was so excited to try something. We try a new food for 2 to 3 days before introducing another, to make sure he doesn't have a reaction. So far he has had apples, bananas, sweet potatoes, prunes and green beans! His favorite by far is sweet potatoes and he will eat a whole container without thinking twice! He also LOVES his rice cereal! I give him rice cereal in the morning with a fruit (sometimes mixed in) and then a bowl of rice cereal at dinner with a veggie (sometimes mixed in). It is so much fun experimenting with new flavors! We love seeing his reaction to all the different foods. I am currently feeding him organic baby rice cereal and organic baby food and plan on doing so for a while. After he finished his box of rice cereal we will be moving onto organic baby oatmeal!
It seems like Colton is learning something new every day and I just love watching what he does. He has started shaking toys back and forth and can sit up for a few seconds without me holding him:) He loves to talk and laugh and cracks up if you made funny faces or sounds at him. It just keeps getting more and more fun!

Some more fun pictures from his first day being 5 months old!

Rockin his mohawk!

His hair is definitely growing!
